The building's Colonial design showcases a modern approach to traditional architecture and features a public lounge and consultation offices. Other highlights of our funeral home include ample parking, a spacious event space that can be utilized as a 180-seat chapel (among the largest in the city) and a dining area with seating for up to 80 guests or non-traditional gathering spaces. Additionally, our state-of-the-art audiovisual system is designed to accommodate a variety of functions and musical tastes.

We offer a range of service options for all religions and cultural backgrounds, including traditional and contemporary funerals, memorials and life celebrations. We honor veterans

Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens understands the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level One Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, our staff is knowledgeable in the benefits available to veterans and their families. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran's memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.

To show our dedication to veterans and military families, we celebrate patriotic holidays that respect those who have served. We are fully staffed every Memorial Day weekend to assist in honoring military friends and family. Our Kansas City funeral home and cemetery team—in partnership with American Legion Post 188—have a longstanding tradition of honoring the country’s veterans, patriots and citizens by hosting a Veterans' Appreciation Memorial Service. The memorial service occurs on-site, close to the flagpole that Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home dedicated to veterans.

Veterans section at Chapel Hill Memorial GardensOne of the most memorable sights at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on patriotic holidays, including Memorial Day weekend, Flag Day and Veteran's Day, is the Avenue of Flags that lines many of the roadways inside the cemetery park. The American Legion also coordinates the placement of flags on the graves of veterans interred at the cemetery on Memorial Day weekend.

Winter holiday support

At Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, we are mindful of the impact the holiday season can have on those who have experienced loss. The holidays can be overshadowed by the lingering pain and grief caused by a death. To help our friends and family get through the holiday season, we host a special Service of Remembrance each December.

Serving Kansas City families since 1905

Arrangement room at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial GardensButler Funeral Home opened in 1905, under the name Joseph A. Butler Funeral Home. Since that time, we've provided funeral services in Kansas City and offer comfort to families through the most difficult times of their lives.

Throughout the years, we've affiliated with others known for exceptional service, such as Ralph Fulton and Eddie Nickel. Established in 1928, their funeral home, Fulton-Nickel Funeral Home, joined us in 1968.

Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens opened in 1948 in what was then a rural area of Wyandotte County, Kansas. Since then, we have provided an environment for those who seek a peaceful cemetery.

Modern amenities

Cemetery grounds at Chapel Hill Memorial GardensAs the area has seen many changes, so has the funeral home and cemetery. We listen to families and make changes to fit your needs. Some of those changes include the addition of the Lakeside Mausoleum, lawn crypt garden and special features specifically designed for cremation.

The cemetery at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens has been the choice for thousands of families of all religious backgrounds, as shown through our legacy of service since 1948. In 2002, the cemetery park became the new site for Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home in Kansas City, which officially opened on the grounds in 2003. This addition solidifies our promise to continue the tradition of service excellence for generations to come.
