  • Phillip Mark Blake


    Since 2011 Phillip "Mark" Blake has been the location manager of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Saint Mary's Street. He is a 5th-generation native of Raleigh, North Carolina and a former Raleigh police officer and U.S. Army reservist. Mark began his career in funeral service at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in 1994 as an apprentice. Following his graduation from mortuary college he became a licensed funeral director in 1997.

    Mark is deeply involved in the Raleigh community. He is a former board member with Transitions LifeCare, a current board member with the Raleigh Hall of Fame, a member of the Rotary Club of Raleigh since the 1990s and a member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church. Committed to his profession, he is a former board member and district director for the North Carolina Funeral Directors Association, the 2008 President of the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service. In 2016, he was reappointed to the State Funeral Regulatory Board for two 3-year terms, and where for the 2nd time in his career is currently serving as the 2020 President.

    Mark's most important role in life is as a husband to his wife and a father to his 2 daughters.

  • Joel E Branch

    General Manager

    Joel E. Branch is a native of the Swift Creek community of Wake County, North Carolina. He is a graduate of Athens Drive High School, Fayetteville Technical Community College and Campbell University. Across decades of service in the funeral business, Joel has acted on a passion for serving his community, providing compassionate assistance to those suffering the loss of a loved one. He is currently location manager of Apex Funeral Home, and general manager for all Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes in Raleigh, North Carolina. Joel and his wife reside in Apex with their 3 daughters.
  • Robert Wynne III


    Robert W. Wynne is the president emeritus of Brown-Wynne Funeral Homes and is the 5th generation of his family to serve with the firm. Bob is a graduate of Needham Broughton High School and Davidson College.

    Bob is a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church. He has served as chairman for various organizations including on the board of visitors for Peace College, Montreat College board of trustees, Building Together Ministries and Enterprise Bank. He is past president of the Raleigh Jaycees, past vice president of the Raleigh Host Lions Club and a past member of the board of directors for the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. Bob also served as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives and the State Senate.

    Bob is a widower and has 3 daughters and 9 grandchildren.

  • Julian Hall Edwards II

    Funeral Director

    A native of Weldon, North Carolina, Julian Hall Edwards II joined Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in 2015. Hall received a degree in agriculture business management from North Carolina State University before earning his North Carolina Funeral Director Certificate from Fayetteville Technical Community College. Hall is a cradle Episcopalian and an alumnus of Camp Sea Gull. He is a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity, the Wolfpack Club and the Roanoke and Tar River Gun Club. Outside of work, Hall enjoys hunting, fishing and state college athletics.
