Personalized funeral services

Funeral Home Waiting RoomLet’s start with a story. Tell us about a defining passion, a lifelong hobby or an inimitable style, and the professional funeral directors at Cedar Lawns Funeral Home will work to create a memorial service filled with personal touches.

Imagine hosting a bike-in for your family’s most avid cyclist, with a two-wheeled escort for the funeral coach and keepsake monogrammed water bottles for guests. Or host an elegant seated dinner in honor of the matriarch famous for her dinner parties, with her favorite dishes prepared and served by a professional caterer. Let us take care of the details, so you can spend time with those who matter most.

Choose a contemporary celebration of life or a traditional religious funeral—or integrate elements of both to create the perfect personalized fit. Our interfaith chapel can host small groups of up to 20. During the late spring and summer, we can host tented events on the lawn right next to funeral home. It’s breathtakingly beautiful when the cherry blossoms rain down.

Cremation services in Seattle

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none. And now we offer both traditional flame cremation and water cremation.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef® is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many cremation providers—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

  • Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
  • Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial®; providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
  • Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Now offering human composting

Human composting is an alternative to burial and cremation. Inside a vessel created especially for this purpose, organic elements, such as wood chips, mulch and wildflowers, gently transform a body into nutrient-rich soil. Your family may choose to use this soil to plant trees or flowers, or you can place it in a location meaningful to you. The remaining soil is sent to conservation land on the Olympic Peninsula to aid projects such as reforestation, improving soil health and restoring challenged ecosystems.

Cedar Lawns Memorial Park Cemetery

Rhododendron BenchesCedar Lawns Memorial Park is a manicured cemetery with sweeping lawns, flowering trees and well-paved roads. It provides a peaceful final resting place for those who have left this earth and a serene setting for remembering loved ones. With a wide variety of burial options from which to choose, we are certain that your family will find a memorial arrangement that suits your needs and wishes.

The cemetery is home to many lovely gardens with names such as Devotion, Serenity and Eternity. Some allow upright monuments; others accommodate only flush memorials. Semiprivate areas are a popular choice for ground burial; we recently opened new hedge estates with space for two or four.

Next to the new hedge estates, near the entrance to the cemetery property, lies a new cremation garden with two grand columbaria. The Azalea Columbarium opened in October 2018. The all-granite structure holds customizable niches. The garden also offers boulder estates and single and companion burial plots.

Certified green burials

Green Burial EntranceThe Green Burial Garden at Cedar Lawns Memorial Park is a natural burial site that promotes the growth of native trees, shrubs and wildflowers that bring birds and wildlife to the area. Established in 2016 and certified by the Green Burial Council the area meets strict guidelines. Those who choose a green burial can also choose environmentally friendly options such as a wicker, wool or recycled casket or an urn crafted from salt and sand.

We also offer unique tributes through the Plant a Forest program, which allows your family to sponsor the planting of an acre of trees in a national forest and have them registered in your loved one’s name.

History

Cedar Lawns Cemetery was established in 1952, across the street from Redmond City Cemetery, which was established in the late 1800s as Pioneer Garden. The city cemetery was transferred into the care of Cedar Lawns in 1994. In May of 1996, Cedar Lawns Cemetery was renamed Cedar Lawns Memorial Park after it became part of the Dignity Memorial® network. There are 6 acres of undeveloped land for future garden sites.

Cedar Lawns Funeral Home opened adjacent to the cemetery in 2008.
