À propos

Established in 1937, Hollyburn Funeral Home has served the residents of the North Shore, including North Vancouver, West Vancouver and Fraser Valley, as well as families from Bowen Island to Whistler. For more than 80 years, people in Vancouver have known and appreciated us for the fair and honest business principals and our commitment to serving all ethnic and religious groups with dignity, compassion and understanding.

Commitment to you

Whether you are seeking a full traditional funeral service with a cemetery burial or a basic cremation with scattering in a personally meaningful place, we are here for you and your family.

Because we understand that different faiths and cultures have different traditions, our staff is trained in the specialized requirements of preparing a loved one for burial or cremation and in the specific order of events for some types of services. We have decades of experience in serving the local Persian community and are mindful of and knowledgeable on the cultural and religious traditions and rituals.

Whether the funeral you are planning is in the West Vancouver and North Shore communities, or thousands of miles away, through the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, we can take care of all of the arrangements for you, helping to ease your burden in a difficult time.

Planning in advance

At Hollyburn Funeral Home, we also recognize that funeral arrangements and associated expenses can be overwhelming. In addition to assisting during your immediate time of need, our funeral directors specialize in working with families to plan final arrangements in advance with your budget in mind. By preparing these details ahead of time, you provide a sense of relief and comfort to your loved ones while ensuring your wishes are met. We are here to discuss your funeral, cremation and cemetery options should you wish to do so in advance.

Commitment to community

Lobby at Hollyburn Funeral HomeHollyburn Funeral Home is an integral and invested part of the West Vancouver and North Shore communities. We make it a priority to support and volunteer at various local community organizations and their respective events, including the COHO Festival and Taste of Ambleside. We happily host community car washes in our funeral home parking lot and shuttle veterans to the annual parade and wreath laying at Remembrance Day.

During the holiday season, we sponsor a tree in Ambleside’s Festival of Lights to honor and celebrate loved ones who have passed throughout the year.

We also believe in helping with public education and being an accessible community resource. Free and open to the public, our monthly seminars take place at area churches and the funeral home, feature guest speakers and cover a variety of senior care topics, such as safety for seniors, foot care and more. We also co-coordinate a yearly hospice teleconference tailored to professionals in hospice facilities, care homes and hospitals.

Hollyburn Funeral Home is a member of the Funeral Service Association of Canada, British Columbia Funeral Service Association, West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau and Canadian Association of Retired Professionals.

History

Established in 1937, we are still located in our original building, with its beautiful stained glass windows, at the corner of 18th Street and Marine Drive in West Vancouver.

The original landowner, John Lawson, named the area Hollyburn when he established a farm nearby and sold waterfront property to people wanting summer cottages. That stream, which had banks peppered with holly, came down the mountain and along Marine Drive, passing right outside our funeral home door.

Much has changed since that time, but our commitment to providing compassionate care to families in a difficult time never will.
