History

The history of the Craciun family in funeral care dates back to 1941, when John Jr. and Yolanda Craciun began a tradition of excellence in the Cleveland community. Located at 6204 Detroit Ave. in Middleburg Heights, the original Craciun Funeral Home sat directly across the street from St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Church.

During World War II, John Jr. served as a medic in the North Africa Campaign and staff sergeant in the European Campaign in the U.S. Army. He received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for his meritorious valor on the battlefield. After the war, John and Yolanda opened their funeral business.

Generations of service excellence

Their sons, Joseph and Jim Craciun, joined the family business in the 1970s. Joseph and Jim supported the Cleveland community through civic leadership and church involvement and saw their business grow significantly throughout the years.

After John passed in 1985, Joseph, James and Yolanda acquired Koval Funeral Home in Middleburg Heights, extending their services to a new community. Funeral homes with their name now also serve families in Cleveland, Fairview Park and Westlake.

John Jr. and Yolanda began with a commitment to quality and community. Throughout our history, we’ve upheld that legacy. As a Dignity Memorial^® provider, we continue to do so.
