Betsy brought out the best of humanity. Every day.
Betsy treasured time with friends and family. Betsy’s smile and demeanor lit up any place she was a part of. A room, a hiking trail, a museum, a gathering with family and friends. Her positive outlook elevated others. Her generosity, humor, and wit touched all who knew her. Her intelligence was inspiring. If one needed guidance or a problem solved, she was a person to turn to.
Betsy loved hiking a trail, early morning walks or jogs along Tramway, and cycling along the bosque trail. At age fifty she trained for and completed a marathon that contributed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She greatly appreciated and supported artists and the arts and enjoyed attending art galleries and shows and concerts of all types. She loved travel and new experiences and was the perfect companion on a good, long road trip. She enjoyed an occasional breakfast out and good cheer at a brew pub, especially after an invigorating hike in the mountains.
Betsy was compassionate. A great friend to all animals, she contributed generously to their causes. And to human and ecological needs as well. Betsy worked hard and was a beloved and invaluable contributor throughout her career spanning Orchard Supply Hardware and Signetics in California and in New Mexico at Philips Semiconductors and Xilinx.
Betsy was born in Pittsfield, MA June 1, 1956 to Ray and Joan Franks, nee Delisle. She was raised in San Jose, CA, and graduated from Del Mar high school. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree at San Jose State University. Her parents both passed in 2018. She leaves behind her husband and life partner, Jim, three sisters, Barbara (and husband John) Chickosky of Acton, MA, Sarah of Tacoma, WA, and Amy of Albuquerque, NM, two brothers, Rob (and wife Donna) of Santa Cruz, CA, and Tim of Sunnyvale, CA, a niece, Tiffany Shepherd, and great-niece, Ashlyn Ray of Filer, ID, and three nephews, Alex Chickosky West Boylston, MA, Sean Chickosky of Seattle, WA, and Andy Franks of Kansas City, MO. She also leaves behind many members from her husband’s family and many dear friends.
A celebration of Betsy’s life will take place in the near future.
Betsy would simply want all who knew her to enjoy life, treasure loved ones, and to treat people with kindness and respect. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Animal Humane in Albuquerque, NM.
