Shortly thereafter, Shirley and Jack moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, where they began a small business in old field services. In the late 1980s, Shirley and Jack returned to Amarillo, where she began working at High Plains Baptist Hospital until her retirement.
Shirley was a loyal and lifetime member of the Ladies Auxillary of Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Loyal Order of Moose, where she wore many officer hats and chair positions while taking time to enjoy her hobbies like playing the piano, bowling, reading, bingo, painting, crosswords, and ceramics.
