Of Prospect Heights
Val A. Gaseor, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 13, 2020 with his family by his side in the home he built and lived in for over 50 years.
Val worked as a Professional Civil Engineer for 37 years with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT). After retiring from IDOT, he went on to work in the private sector for STV Inc.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, and loving husband to his adored wife Kathleen for almost 57 years. Though gentle and patient by nature, Val’s wit was always present.
"Work to live” don’t “live to work”. Those were his infamous words of wisdom and the motto that led him and his family through a life of joy and celebration.
Fishing with his brothers, golfing with his friends, and traveling with his family were Val’s favorite pastimes. He remained active in his retirement by using his engineering skills to build intricate models of airplanes, ships, and the ultimate 1848 Stage Coach.
May our beloved husband, Dad, and Papa rest in peace with eternal sun on his face beside his son and two grandchildren.
Forever we will love you.
A Funeral Mass for Val will be held at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Prospect Heights on Friday January 22, 2021 at 10:30am. Interment is private.
