Paul Paniccia, age 48, peacefully and unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020, after a short illness in Westminster, Colorado. Paul was born and raised in Fresno, California and the surrounding areas. He spent a lot of his childhood on the golf course with his dad, Bob Paniccia. Paul played sports; his favorite was baseball. In high school, he learned to play the bass guitar and was in a band with his friends. He met the love of his life on February 15, 1994 when he was working at Sears in Fresno. They married in 1999 and moved to New York so that Paul could attend The Institute of Culinary Arts. It was his dream to be a Chef. He loved creating new dishes and feeding people wonderful food. This dream also had him moving several times. He lived in Salinas, California; Madera, California; Pocatello, Idaho; and Casper, Wyoming before moving to Colorado in 2015.
In 2002, Paul learned that he loved being a father even more than creating food when his son, Dominic was born. Then in 2007, his daughter showed up and wrapped him around her tiny little finger. His favorite thing in the world was forming elaborate stories at bedtime. He would curl up with the kids and they would make up magical stories until they all fell asleep. He attended many soccer, t-ball, football, and softball games over the years plus many school events. His life was his family. He never wanted to go anywhere without them.
After moving to Colorado, he found something he never thought would also become part of him – Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. When he first attended services, he knew he found home. He immediately started the classes and became Episcopalian. He was so proud to belong to this church. He ended up joining the Safety & Security team to keep an eye on things during services. He wanted his new family to be protected while they were worshiping.
Paul is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marissa Paniccia, his son Dominic Paniccia and his daughter Katelyn Paniccia; his parents Bob & Jennifer Paniccia of Fresno, CA, Richard Fernandez and Dorothy Garza of Parlier, CA; his in-laws Fred & Carole Chalmers of Madera, CA; his grandmother Betty Paniccia of Fresno, CA; his sisters Jenine (Brian) Klein of Fresno, CA, Christy Fernandez of Kingsburg, CA, Michelle (Tim) Wilson of Sanger, CA, Joella Paniccia and Joanna Hinman of Fresno, CA; his sister & brother in-laws Andrea Chalmers of Madera, CA, and Aaron (Lindsey) Chalmers of Niceville, FL; and his many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and In-Laws. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jennie & Manuel Marquez of Fresno, CA, and Grandfather Bill Paniccia of Fresno, CA.
Due to COVID, the family has decided to postpone Paul’s Celebration of Life until a later date.
