

Warren Edward Vogel, peacefully passed on to his eternal home with Jesus on September 3, 2016, in Gainesville, GA. Warren was born October 24, 1935, in Astoria, NY, grew up in Little Neck, NY, and was a graduate of City College of NY. He married Ursula (Uschi) in 1961, and after the births of their daughters, moved to Columbus, OH, in 1965 to raise their family. He had a 32 year career with Western Electric / AT&T / Lucent Technologies working in Personnel, Human Resources, Public Relations and was the company spokesperson. He also earned an MBA from Xavier University. During their 27 years in Columbus, Warren selflessly volunteered and served on the boards of many organizations including the Inner City Salesian Boys Club, Junior Achievement, Suicide Prevention, and United Way. In 1992 Warren and Ursula moved to what he called “paradise” at The Landings community in Savannah, GA. Always avid golfers, they enjoyed 20 years of living their dream. After he experienced multiple strokes, they moved to Lanier Village Estates retirement community in 2014. Warren’s charming smile and laugh stayed with him to the end, as well as his deep gratitude for all of life’s blessings. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ursula (Goetz) Vogel, daughters Debbie (Michael) Brannan, Denise (Jeffrey) Johnson, grandchildren Benjamin, Zachary, and Laura Brannan, Christopher and Erica Johnson; sister Arlene (Gerald) Umlauf; sister-in-law Diana Kotlar Tice; nephews Gerald Jr. (Monica) Umlauf, Arthur (Doreen) Umlauf, Kristian (Tova) Umlauf and seven grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Vogel, and his parents-in-law, Albert and Elisabeth Kotlar. A memorial service will be held in Savannah, GA, on Saturday, October 8, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Stroke Foundation or the United Way.
