

Frances Byrd Bolton Benson, wife of lifetime Austin citizen, Walter Scott Benson, Jr. died in her home on Monday, November 21, 2005. Frances, born in 1922, was the middle daughter of five sisters. The five were daughters of Hazel Chessier Bolton and Tracy Lamar Bolton who resided in Jacksonville, Texas. Rheumatoid Arthritis of 50 years put an end to her wonderful life. Frances attended Lon Morris College and was a Stephen F. Austin University student when World War II began. She was accepted by the University of Texas for the fall of 1945, but instead, she married Walter Scott Benson, Jr. on July 8, 1945. After she married, she preferred to stay home with her children. Frances loved music and reading. She later worked in the Austin Public Library, Austin Junior League and St. Davids Hospital. She was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Courtney Amanda Benson and one sister, Barbara Salmon of Wichita Falls, Texas. Survivors include her loyal husband Walter S. Benson, Jr.; her beloved son, Walter S. Benson, III, his wife Cindy A. Benson and one grandchild, Walter S. Benson, IV; her daughter, Barbara Bolton Benson-Padgett and her husband Bill Padgett; and her sisters Beryl Pickle of Austin, Texas, Bunny Beall of Jacksonville, Texas, and Lois Wyatt of San Marcos, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
