

CHRISTOPHER C. “COWBOY” COPLEY Beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Christopher C. “Cowboy” Copley, 92, of Stotesbury, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 following a short illness. Born September 1, 1922 in Page, WV; he was the son of the late Henry and Marie Cole Copley. Mr. Copley was a retired Coal Miner of Eastern Associated Coal Company, lastly working at the Stotesbury Mines. He was a member of the UMWA and served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He was a former member of the Stotesbury Community Church. He enjoyed watching Westerns and spending time with his cat, Salem, whom he loved very much. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years; Frances Choka Copley. Those left to cherish his memory include his five children, Beverly Honaker of King, North Carolina, Rebecca Thompson and husband, Dewey of Stotesbury, William Copley and wife, Tarenna of Stotesbury, Anna Copley of Midway, Darren Copley and wife, Christi of Grandview. He will be sadly missed by all of his children. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Alfred Ray Treadway, Joseph Honaker, Bryan Thompson, Marissa Copley, Misti McKinney, Emily McKinney, Jessica McKinney, and Sara Copley, and also 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews and extended family. Services to celebrate the life of Christopher C. “Cowboy” Copley will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Tom Cox officiating. Following the services he will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley beside his beloved wife, Frances. Pallbearers will be William Copley, Darren Copley, Dewey Thompson, Bryan Thompson, Joseph Honaker, and Alfred Ray Treadway. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00PM until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thanks to Rebecca Thompson, for the special care that she gave to her father over the years. Also a special thanks to the Raleigh General Nursing Staff and the 2nd South for their special care.
