Mary Elizabeth Ray Moon, born February 18, 1943 in Jasper, Alabama to Lillie Mary Burton Ray and Jerome Henry Ray died October 24, 2011 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents: step-father, Dewey Jackson Bishop; husband, Thomas Wade Moon, Sr.; brother, Colonel (Ret) John Parks Ray, Sr. She was graduated from Walker County High School in 1961. She attended Jacksonville State College, where she was a Marching Ballerina. She was graduated Cum Laude from Huntingdon College in 1964. She was a member of Riverchase UMC. Survivors include daughter, Cheryl Moon (Jon) Kittrell of Fairhope, Alabama; son, Thomas Wade Moon, Jr. of Birmingham; nephew, John Parks Ray, Jr. of New Hampshire; nieces, Laura Elizabeth Ray Chandler of New Hampshire, Drury Ray Morgan of Vermont. Mary was a delightful conversationalist who loved her family, coworkers, and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 am at Riverchase UMC with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation (www.carcinoid.org).
