Marguerite J. Ross Jun 10, 1935 – Nov 17, 2017 MARGUERITE J ROSS, 82, of Northville, passed away the evening of Friday, November 17, 2017. Marguerite was born in Port Austin, Michigan, to the late Willard and Angela (Bruce) Walsh. Marguerite was a thoughtful, loving woman and a natural caregiver. She received her R.N. degree with magna cum laude honors in 1956 from Mercy College of Detroit and worked in nearly every Detroit hospital, rounding out her career with 30 years as an O.R. Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital of Livonia. But, her nursing did not stop at the hospital doors. She was known as the neighborhood nurse in her Northville community and in retirement in Fort Myers, FL. Marguerite was engaged in life, and determined to keep active to her last moments with the things she loved most, including hosting gatherings, travel, dance, music, golf, cards and daily exercise. Live music became increasingly important to her as she began to lose her vision. She had a great interest in others and was known for the endless amount of questions she addressed to every situation. It showed she cared! Marguerite fought fiercely the last six and a half years to maintain her quality of life while battling brain cancer, finally succumbing to lung cancer, only recently diagnosed. Her persistence in physical activity contributed to her additional precious time with loved ones. Marguerite was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville, MI, where she enjoyed the fellowship, special events and served on multiple charity efforts with the Ladies Guild. Her faith was extremely important to her. Surviving Marguerite are her children, Brian (Kathy) Ross, Thomas Ross, Beth Ross, Mary Ross; grandchildren Kelly (Chris) Allen, Sean (Jillian) Ross; great grandchildren Henry and Harper Allen; siblings Ann Larabell, Irene (Pat) Flanagan, James (Joann) Walsh. Marguerite is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Ross, sister Patricia (Walsh) Goretski, and many other dear family and friends. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m., with visitation at 10 a.m., Friday, December 1, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church located at 133 Orchard Drive, Northville, MI 48167. Memorial contributions in Marguerite’s name will be directed to Angela Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
