The time has come that we must part with a truly elegant woman who was very dear to us.
Ruth Moran, born August 15, 1924 to James and Bessie Bonnville in Detroit, MI, enjoyed a happy childhood. Until her last days she spoke very fondly of her parents, eight siblings, and their families.
On November 4, 1944, Ruth married the love of her life, Charles Moran. The couple were graced by the birth of four children: Kathy Moran (deceased); Debra Tunis (deceased); Nancie Rodems (Steve); and Chuck Moran. They raised their family in Berkley, MI eventually welcoming the birth of their beloved grandchildren: Bob Bonnell (Kendra); Rebecca Altounian (Marty); Sam Rohr (Carmen); and Hannah Koegler (Jeff). In 1989 Ruth and Charlie moved to Ocala, FL to enjoy the sunshine. Ruth returned to Michigan in 2002, after the loss of her husband, to be near her family. This was a blessing to us all, especially her great-grandchildren: Sophia; Ava; and Neena Altounian. She adored them beyond belief! They brought such pride, joy, and laughter to her final years. They also provided her with a nickname "GiGi" that stuck with her. Returning to Michigan also allowed Ruth the opportunity to create more precious memories with her lifelong friend Mania Nelson. Ruth leaves behind nieces and nephews that were a big part of her life as well.
Ruth was an extraordinary woman. She always had a twinkle in her pretty eyes. She would greet you with a warm smile and in her gentle voice utter a "Hello Darling, or Sweetheart". You immediately felt safe and loved. However, you were well advised to not let your guard down, because she was not your average sweet lady. She was very quick and smart. She possessed a sly wit and held confidently to her convictions. She had a great sense of humor that was constantly surprising those around her. She also had a competitive streak when it came to bowling or playing Bridge. Let's face it, she was a cunning card shark! She was a fierce and devoted fan of the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed watching the games, and freely coached from her couch.
Ruth despised cold weather and therefore enjoyed every moment she could basking in the sun on a warm summer day, especially with family in Ludington, Michigan. There she recalled happy childhood memories and created new ones with three generations of her family. However if the wind blew in chilly air, or the sun was not shining, you could find her inside glued to FOX News, playing with the kids, or persuading someone to take her to the casino.
Ruth was the strong, proud, and elegant matriarch of her family. She was a true beauty inside and out. She may not have passed down a plethora of recipes or gardening tips, but she taught us all very valuable life lessons. She constantly made us laugh, made us love one another, and taught us to stay true to our beliefs. Even if she didn't agree with you (and you would know it) there was never any doubt that she loved you with her whole heart! We will grieve her loss, honor her memory, and feel her unconditional love forever.
Ruth will leave a huge void here on earth, but will undoubtedly fill her new home in heaven with joy and laughter.
The family would like to thank Carolyn Williams and her team for their extraordinary love and care. Ruth required a little extra help the last couple years and Carolyn showered her with love, friendship, and dignity. We are very grateful.
The family has request no flowers at this time.
