

Born February 19, 1931 to the late Sarah Bartie Ward Lancaster and James Norman Lancaster she was raised in Tuscaloosa Alabama. She was a graduate of The University of Alabama with a BA, and The University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Home Economics. She moved to Glynn County in 1965 resident of Brunswick for the past 45 years. Mrs. Tait was the former owner of Tait Floral and was well known for her catering around Brunswick and St. Simons for many years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a sustaining member of The Pilot Club as well. She will always be loved as the neighborhood mother to the “Brunx Boys”. She was a Southern Lady who enjoyed all things southern, her family said. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles S. Tait, III, and mother and father in law Charles Tait, Jr. and Ethel D. Tait.
Survivors include her son, Charles S. Tait, IV and wife Questa with grandson Austyn Skelton of St. Simons Island, a sister, Norma Lancaster, two brothers, John Lancaster and Phillip Lancaster, mother in law, Dorothy Tait, and several nieces and nephews, including Justin Cook.
Funeral services will be held 3PM Sunday, September 16, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McIlrath officiating. Pallbearers include Austyn Skelton, Eric Courtis, Harrison Sapp, Chris Sapp, Eric Moye, and Britt Trevathan. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Wilson, John Lancaster, Justin Cook, Philip Lancaster, Lana Skelton MD, Ahmed ElSharkawi MD, The Open Door Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church, and Keenagers of First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon September 15, 2012, from 5PM until 7 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A private interment will be on Monday at Palmetto Cemetery.
