I'm saddened to hear about the passing of Chris.  I have known Chris professionally for 25 years, and always considered him my only source in the elevator business, and a good friend.
I knew of his health issues, I'm so shocked to realize that he passed.  May we all have great memories of Chris, as he is at peace.

I knew Chris from elementary school through to high school.  We were not close but would chat on occasion.
I saw this and wanted to extend my condolences.  I also can see by the posts and photos that Chris lived a passionate life ....loving as a friend, father, husband and coworker.  We should all strive for this each day as we impact peoples lives everyday.

I also grew up with Chris on Hampden Circle.  I’ll always remember going to sleepovers at the Grothe house there was never a dull moment.   Chris moved away but we reconnect in our college days, even though we went to  different schools our paths crossed with mutual friends.   It was no surprise how Chris was loved by all everyone admired his fun loving spirit, positive attitude and contagious laugh.  Chris my friend you will be greatly missed.  God Bless You

It's been many years since living in Cherry Knolls, but I do remember Chris when he was young.  Having recognized the last name in the post announcements, I checked with Olinger and realized it was your son. 

As a parent to a parent, I am so sorry for your loss. It looks like you have had a couple of very difficult years. My thoughts are with you.

I worked with Chris for most of my adult life and no matter how tough things got Chris could always make us laugh. I’ll miss you buddy. My prayers go out to the family. 

I first met Chris in 1987, he had just graduated from CU, had a killer haircut and was interviewing for a commission sales position with Westinghouse Elevator Company. He would be replacing me because I had accepted a salaried position. In the interview we rolled out a set of architectural drawings and asked Chris to point out the elevator. Without any hesitation Chris pointed to everything (closet, restrooms, office) except the elevator until finally landing on the elevator shaft. Right then we knew he was our man. Chris and I worked together for 29 more years of which 16 years we were part owners of Elevators Unlimited.  Hands down the best salesman I ever met. We worked, we played and we laughed like crazy. He was my wingman, always had my back and I always had his. Besides being a fantastic friend he was a great dad who just adored his three kids. I heard more stories about Connor’s high school soccer, Hannah’s teakwondo and Reese’s horse jumping and the best part was seeing  how excited Chris would get. Chris was also really good with impressions and had me rolling on many occasions. There wasn’t a day that Chris didn’t walk in the office with a big smile and upbeat attitude. I could still hear it now. I would  see him walk in the office and say, “what’s happening Chrissy Boy” and he would respond, “yo yo yo what’s crackalackin my weebo”.  I still don’t know what that meant but it made me laugh every time. I don’t know anyone that didn’t love Chris. What an amazing guy that left us far to soon. I miss you little buddy! 

There are no words to express my sorrow for your loss.  May the Grothe Family find comfort in the loving memories you shared with Chris.  Please accept my deepest condolences.

Growie Man as he was often fondly referred too was as fun loving a person I have ever met.  Chris and I met as little boys back on Hampden Circle were we all grew up, we were in cub scouts together with his mom Roberta as one of the den moms.  Chris and I became much better friends later in college when we ran into each other at our favorite ski area Mary Jane.  From then on we spend a lot of fun times together, skiing, mountain bike riding, and fly fishing.  We did an annual fishing trip to Trappers Lake for 12 years (Chris, Gray Peterson, Clark Johnson and myself),  My wife Anne and I spend a lot of time with Chris and Kristen in the early years of starting a family.  Chris was so happy with his family and loved being a husband and a father more than anything else.  Chris had many struggles in life but you would never know it as he as always positive and upbeat and that is one of the many reasons everyone LOVED Growie Man!
