Virginia was born on August 29, 1920 in Quinton, OK, a daughter of the late Louis and Monta Coblentz. She and her three older brothers (all predeceased), Martin, Charles and Ed, grew up during the Depression and experienced both World Wars. Virginia received a degree in Finance from Oklahoma University and furthered her education at LSUS where she acquired her Masters in Library Science. She was then employed for many years in the LSU Medical School Library. Virginia, who was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, remained current with the events going on even today.
Mom shared her stories and her life making her an inspiration to many of those around her. She had the gift of “giving” and gave of her heart to many of those she loved. She was devoted to her family, always wanting to see pictures, visit, and “keep up” with the latest from her three grandkids. You’d hear the grandkids lovingly calling her “Meme” and “Tmom”.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Wayne Lash and his wife Cathy of Matthews, NC, and Thomas Martin Lash of Charlotte, NC; as well as three grandchildren, Christa, Michael and Sarah.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne E. Lash, in 1985.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 30, 2014 at Harry & Bryant Co., 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110; Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte 28204; or Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S. Trade Street, Matthews, NC 28105.
She was much loved and will be greatly missed. She was a very loving mom, mentor and friend.
