September 7, 1950 – February 13, 2018
With great sorrow we announce the passing of Truman Verdon Gee. Truman was born in Toledo, Ohio to the parents of Truman Donald and Rosemarie Ellen Gee, and is the brother of five sisters, Judy, Rosemary, Eleanor, Sherie, and Deanna. Truman leaves behind his wife Jan, to whom he was married for 46 years and his two adult children; son Travis and his wife Trish and daughter Summer and her husband Bryson, and eight grandchildren; Tyler, Jet, Zack, Abby, Nyah, Alexis, Madison and Cannon.
Truman was a master carpenter and craftsman, who took tremendous pride in workmanship. Many of the family members thought “if papa can’t fix it nobody could.” Truman was able to make just about anything from children’s toys to large commercial structures. Those who worked with Truman, often could not keep pace with him, and spoke often about how he could out work anybody. He was known for his unwavering love for Jesus, his family and his friends. Truman lived a rich full life and was a shining example of what true love for family, friends and your fellow human being was supposed to be.
Truman positively affected the lives of countless children through his coaching of various sports and selfless teaching of the kids throughout the community. Truman is often looked upon by many of his former players as a second father. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his former players and the later successes in their lives.
He had a love of sports and community involvement, he loved coaching softball and baseball, believing he taught more than just the game, often stating it taught life lessons. He was so proud and honored to be considered more than a coach by so many.
He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis but that did not define him. He chose to wake up and live everyday with purpose. He made all of his grandkids games and kept in touch with his friends and family on a daily basis. You could often hear him say, “I think I’m going to beat this MS thing this year and get back to walking.” He was always looking for new projects to create, from the legendary stir fry sticks and cutting boards to his last project of wanting to repair and renovate the old fire house and community church in Magalia. If he did not know how to fix or complete the job, he always knew somebody who did.
There was never a time he was not willing to help, either by lending a helping hand, a sympathetic ear, a hot meal, or even a place to stay if needed. One of his true loves was spending time outdoors. He loved to camp and fish. There seldom was a time that he did not want to have a fishing pole in his hand and spend the day on the lake or the river.
Truman will be missed, as he was loved by so many and touched all of us in ways words cannot describe. He has left a void that will be difficult to fill, but something to aspire too.
A celebration of life will be held, Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00AM at the Magalia Community Church, 13700 Old Skyway, Magalia, CA.
