

Eugene Keller, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2020, with his loving wife of 72 years by his side at their home in Clearwater, Florida. He was 93. Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Lloyd and Helen Keller.
A graduate of Penn High School, he proudly served our country in the United States Navy near the end of World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 when he returned home and married the love of his life. He attended Youngstown College while earning a degree in electrical engineering. Their family started in Youngstown before making their home and living happily in Brecksville, Ohio. Throughout life, he was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He enjoyed family vacations, travelling, golfing, fishing and hunting.
Gene began his successful career as a sales engineer for a manufacturer of steel heat induction equipment. After retiring in 1988, he and his wife enjoyed traveling many of the United States where they visited National parks. They also travelled regions of Europe. He was passionate with his "second" career writing short stories.
Those that knew Gene understood that he did not do things halfway. He approached his life and interests with passion and gusto. He will forever be remembered for his fun loving and generous spirit. A humble and honorable man, he was a man of his word. He was known for his good humor, keen intellect, kind and gracious heart, and his desire to bring joy to those around him. There are no words to describe the unconditional love he gave to our family. He will be in our hearts for eternity and missed by all who were privileged to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Lloyd. He is survived by his loving bride of 72 years, Joan; their five children, Penny (Pete), Paul (Betty), Doug (Becky), Dave (Donna) and Steve (Luz); and grandchildren, Jacob Fatica, Joshua Cain Fatica( Marissa), Paul "PK" Keller JR (Allison), Jennifer Reed (John), Andrew Keller, Alyssa Keller, Kim Anderson (Dave), Kristina Duran (Rich),Greg Keller(Amanda), Daniel Keller; great grandchildren, Julianna, Parker, Ayden, Addilyn and Brooks
A private Memorial Service for family only will be held. There is no interment following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations can be made in memory of Gene Keller at the American Cancer Society (cancer.org), Alzheimer/Dementia Association (alz.org) or Coastal Hospice (CoastaIHospice.org).
The family will have a ceremony at a later date once it is safe to gather and social restrictions are eased. Notice for that memorial service will be shared once a date, time and place become known.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
