Frances was born on June 26, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Susan (Bibza) Cabina. She attended Morton High School. After graduation, she was offered a music scholarship to University of Kentucky, but turned it down to enroll at Northern Illinois University. It was there she met her husband, Frank Stritar. Frances then transferred to the University of Florida but later returned to NIU to finish school. Frances taught kindergarten and 2nd grade, and after earning her master’s degree, she became a reading specialist in Waukegan Public Schools, where she worked for over 20 years.
Frances was also a concert violinist. She played in the Chicago Youth Orchestra as a child and then in the North Shore Symphony as an adult.
In 1985, Frances and her husband retired and moved to Safety Harbor, FL, then later to Oldsmar, FL. During her retirement years, she enjoyed working at many jobs, including Sears, Waukegan Pizza Company and Sophia’s, her son, Michael’s restaurant. But most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her of her two granddaughters.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank, her father Joseph and her mother, Susan. She is survived by her children, Michael (Jennifer) and Susan, her grandchildren, Caitlin (Will) Harris and Ashley (Zack) Giles and three great grandchildren.
