Lorna Ruth Benware

Lorna R Benware, 75, of St Petersburg passed on to be with the Lord October 19,2017., with her husband, son and grandchildren by her side. She was born July 4, 1942 in Mountain, Ontario Canada. Following high school graduation, she attended Ottawa Teachers College, and received her teaching certification. For four years she taught 8 different grades in one of the last one room schools in that area. During a visit to NYS, she met her beloved husband Eugene, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Following Eugenes completion of a 2 year oversea assignment in the Air Force,they resided in Ottawa, Canada. In 1986 they relocated to St Petersburg. It was there she eventually retired as a teachers assistant. She is predeceased by a son Eric, and siblings Charles, Raymond and Doris. She is survived by her son and daughter in law Stephen and Chris of Largo, Fl., 4 grandchildren ,Jessica and Amy of Tampa, Erica of St Petersburg and Faith of Greensboro,SC. Lorna enjoyed traveling, visiting friends ,relatives and reading. Most of all she loved birthdays and holidays, especially spending them with her grandchildren and family. She loved the Lord and worshipped at Clearview United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous committees. Among them were the food pantry, prayer chain and cookie ministry. In death she continued to help someone in need as a retinal donor. A Public Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at Clearview United Methodist Church, 4515 38th Ave N., St. Petersburg, FL. 33713. In lieu of flowers, the family is appreciative of donations made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th Street 8th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10022.
