Hi, well let me say Don Hronek was the best designer in Cadillac Studio when we worked together in the mid-1970's and into the early eighties when Don Retired. Let me tell you about the Cadillac Seville he designed that came out after Pet Maier's bustle back seville. Don's design was sculpted three eights scale model by Charles Dean. I was working on another project at this time with Pierre Oiller/spelling of last name isn't right. but hey he is also gone now. Well Don and Pierre and George Camp and maybe the assistant designer were given the task of designing the bustle back replacement to come out in about 1987?. not sure....Don just watched the other designer's trying to get their design done on eight by twelve boards that slid up and down on cables. the boards were where paper was put and then the designers outlined their sketches in full size and air brushed with color the designs. after this they would place paper wheels into the wheel openings and the project would be completed with finishing touches. Don would sit back and not do anything until the last day of the project. He would watch how the other guys designs were going, one left one right, like golf balls being driven down the fairway. On the morning of the last day after about a week or more of the designers struggling Don would get up and approach the sliding board. He would complete his design before the end of the day and when all was done he won. 
His three eight's scale model was sitting in front of Wayne Kady's office, the chief Designer of Cadillac. Cadillac had a new general manager/ forget his name/ and he came into the studio by the front door and as he walked by Don's design he stopped and looked at the sculpted Seville. He turned to his chief engineer and said that is the next Seville. And that was the next seville. Cadillac only made a sedan that series. Don's.

Dear Children and grand children and great grand childen...
Don and I were best friends and when i bought my home in 1979 he came to see it and on the way we stopped to buy a stainless steel sink and he helped me bring it into the house.
we used to go to the eastern market for oranges and grapefruits and once when we were there he said hey lets have a beer. we stopped in to a bar, forgot the name but if you asked to to take you i could do it with my eyes closed.
okay, we were sitting at the bar and it was kinda tight so we left an empty stool between us. a fellow entered and asked if we could move over so he could sit down. i moved and he sat next to me. i asked him if he worked at the market and he said yes he worked at S.andD. next door to the bar. He said it is his dad and mom's wholesale meat store. I asked if i could buy some new york strip steaks and he said just tell my dad that i sent you. I think he name was Jim, but again it has been many years ago.
we left the bar and i said to Don come on i am going to buy some meat. he came with me and we entered the small office. the dad and mom were sitting in and i told them their son sent me and i would like to buy some new york strip steaks. well he called a fellow into the office and told him to cut me ten and then he returned with the steaks in a box. boy oh boy they were the best steaks and Don kept looking at them on the way back to work. after that Sam and David's meat market became my place for steaks. Fillet's and new york strips. many years later the mom and dad passed away and the son and his sister took over the market. then in the middle 1990's they sold the market to their workers and i still think they sell the best beef in town. another story with Don will follow...as they come back to me...nick houvras
