Tomasita "Tomi" Vasquez

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December 19 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will follow at College Station Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tomasita was born December 21, 1939 in Cuero the daughter of Victor and Beatriz (Cervantes) De La Cruz. She spent 29 years as a staff employee of the State of Texas at Texas A&M University System from which she retired in 2001.

All of her life she enjoyed her needle work, sewing crafts and especially vacationing in the Rocky Mountains and Teton National Park. She loved all of her friends and a large extended family by marriage throughout Texas. She was an active member of the Fellowship at the Brazos Valley Church of Christ.

Tomasita was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Beatriz De La Cruz; and her sister, Roseann Ruiz.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike Vasquez of College Station; daughter and son-in-law, Jocelyn and Thomas Zarate of College Station; son, Michael Vasquez of Austin; sister, Josephine Griffin of Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Josie De La Cruz of Lockhart; nieces, Cristina Salazar, Lori Butler and Tori Ruiz-Gurrero; nephews, Eric De La Cruz, Michael and Marcus Ruiz; and lastly her loyal canine companion, Spuds.
