Ellen Marie Forward

Ellen M. Forward, 66, a long-time resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2pm, Friday, June 15, at Sacred Heart Church 105 Waugh St, Columbia, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2pm Friday at the Church.

Ellen was born June 8, 1952; the eldest of 8 children to James and Natalee Thurmond Forward. In 1970, she graduated from Hickman High School, and then began her college education at UMC. She completed her BA in 1973 and Masters in 1977. She was a devoted teacher to Public and Catholic Schools for nearly 40 years. She was active in the local 4-H for many years, and dedicated her life to education and service. She loved her family, friends, and her church.

She is survived by seven siblings, Alicia (Douglas) Walker of Caldwell, TX, Carol (Bob) Gladden of Lebannon, MO, James William Forward, David (Pat) Forward, Daniel (Ann) Forward each of Columbia, Linda Forward of Jefferson City, MO and Laura (Charles) Long of Caldwell TX; thirteen nieces and nephews, Jeremiah, Adelia, and Ben Gladden, Amanda, Dave, Bryan, and Blake Forward, Sara, Samantha, and Kate Forward, Sierra, Brianna, and Bailey Long; and a loving extended family.
