A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM following the visitation. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
Lois McCard Elliott was born in Buena Vista, Georgia on November 9, 1926 to the late Mattie W. McCard and John Henry McCard. She grew up during the great depression, Lois knew the true value of family and caring for one another. She loved to fish and catching catfish was her all-time favorite, other than having her catch for supper. Lois was married to the late Edward Elliott and together they called the Columbus area home. She worked for over 40 years with Swift Textiles. Lois loved her family and sharing childhood memories of living on the farm in the country. Lois was Christian by faith and she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church until her health would not allow her to attend.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her daughter, Rena Faye Ellis and her husband Kenneth C. Ellis; her grandchildren: Sherry Ann Bailey, Edward Allen Bailey, Angela Strickland, Kenneth C. Ellis, Jr., Brad Neel and Matt Neel; her great grandchildren: Ben Bailey, Cassidy Jean Neel, Holten Neel, Hannah Neel, Jeffrey Neel, Amanda Burkett, Cole Burkett, and Jacob Ellis; her great great-grandchildren: Wyatt Bailey, Caden Bailey, and Hoxx B. Neel; her brother Bronzer McCard (Noyoka Robbins); and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Mattie and John Henry McCard; her husband Edward Elliott; her children: Shirley Martin and Lola Jean Neel; her grandchild Jeffrey Neel; her siblings: Robert McCard, Henry O.D. McCard, Loney McCard Tenney, Bill McCard, Edward McCard, JV McCard, Myrtle McCard McCullough, and Shorty McCard.
