Shirley Ann Currie

Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Shirley Ann Currie, 66, of Cataula, GA passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Gentiva Hospice on Williams Rd. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Andy Taunton will officiate.

Shirley was born June 3, 1950 to the late Thomas Beam and Dorothy Canup Beam. She worked at Jordan City Pharmacy (now River Road Pharmacy) for 20+ years. She had been a member of Crystal Valley Baptist Church (Calvary Chapel) for many years but had been attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cataula, GA.

In addition to her parents ,she is preceded in death by her first husband of 21 years William “Bill” D. Oliver, Sr. Survivors include; her husband of 23 years Billy Currie; her sister Jennie Chesteen; her brother Tommy Beam, and seven step-siblings; her children, Michelle Oliver (Matthew) Teel, William “Billy” D. Oliver, Jr., Ronnie L. Oliver, Chris (Amy) Currie, and Drew (Rhiana) Currie; fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren; nephews, Dave Chesteen, Wayne Chesteen, and Billy Chesteen.

Her family would like to give special heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Gentiva Hospice for the loving care she and the family were shown during her last weeks.
