Katie Vandergriff

Mary Kay (Katie) Vandergriff, age 62, passed away August 13, 2019 at Indiana University Methodist Hospital with her family by her side. Katie was born on August 11, 1957 in Sullivan, Indiana to Walter and Doris Kaiser. She married her husband and love, Louie Vandergriff, on April 11, 1981. Katie is survived by her husband Louie Vandergriff and their five children; Gavin Vandergriff, Morgan Vandergriff, Marcie Johnson, Melodie Steffler, Jeramie Vandergriff and her siblings; Connie Wampler, Patty Dorris, Janice Nash and Tony Kaiser. She is preceded in death by her mother Doris Kaiser, Walter (Fat) Kaiser, and brother Donald Kaiser. Katie was a devoted parishioner at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church and a retired employee of the Bartholomew County (BCSC) school district. She was a graduate of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Catholic College. Katie dedicated her time to being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her family who she loved and adored. Katie enjoyed being surrounded by her friends, entertaining her loved ones, and hosting beautiful holiday gatherings for her family. She loved Indianapolis Colts football games, Indiana University basketball games, and travelling with her husband Louie and her children. Per her request, in lieu of flowers she would like donations the American Heart Association or Love Chapel in her name. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2019, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Rev. Clem Davis and Rev. Chris Wadelton officiating. Visitation will be from 3 – 8 pm on Friday August, 16, 2019 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. Additional visitation will be from 9 – 10 am Saturday at Church.
