Helen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she knew. Born into a family of six siblings, Helen learned early in life the value and importance of family, laughter, hard work and gratitude. She carried these attributes throughout her life and instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. Helen married Kenneth Terry in 1972 and together they created Unique Textiles where she worked alongside her husband in the family business. Following Ken’s untimely death to cancer; Helen moved to Calabash where she was able to enjoy her love of the beach, her endless devotion to her cocker spaniel Oreo, driving in her convertible, and hosting her family for many fond memories at her home on the coast. During her time in Calabash, Helen enjoyed companionship with her long time partner and friend, Joe Marion who preceded her in death in 2012.
After her diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, Helen returned home to Conover for the love and support of her family during her courageous battle. Like in her youth, she was able to cherish and enjoy all that she loved most, her family and friends.
