Erica was born one of five children to Ramona Lucio and Juan Alejandro, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her loving nature shone in her stepping into a role helping her mother to care for her brothers, Frank, Juan, and Arturo and one sister, Elva Alejandro Carreon. Erica believed in working hard as she waited for her father, a truck driver to bring her sweets from his travels.
Raised in Robstown, Texas, Erica attended Robstown High School. Running an errand for her mom to the corner store, Erica first spotted a shiny new 1973 Mustang. A few minutes later she spotted the handsome driver and her forever love, Librado Bayardo. They married in April of 1977 and over the years there was some question as to which she fell in love with first, Libe or the mustang.
Together they raised, Christopher of Corpus Christi, Michelle (Kelly) of Victoria, Monica, and Veronica and Amber Bayardo all of Corpus Christi. Erica also raised some of her grandchildren, Anthony Varella, Ashlynn, Kathyln and Hillary Hinojosa. She was also blessed with loving grandchildren, Kayla Bayardo, Hailey and Chloe Bayardo, Brianna Lynn Lopez, Zanet Moriah, FrankLee, and Leeah Marie Cruz, Robert Jr. Hernandez, Guy Jayden Hernandez, and Ricky Jr. Galindo and one great-grandson, Leo Benjamin Cruz Rodriguez.
Erica embraced life with and enriched the lives of those around her. When you were with her it was common for the room to be filled with laughter, her beautiful plants and adoring pets.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Hospice of South TX in Victoria, TX.
Erica’s life will be celebrated at Funeraria del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St., in Corpus Christi, TX. Due to capacity restrictions, service information will not be publicized.
