Born in New Bedford, a son of Meribah D. (Tripp) Gifford of Dartmouth and the late Hubert B. Gifford, Jr., he was raised in Dartmouth, moved to Vassalboro, Maine for several years, and then returned to Dartmouth 10 years ago.
He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1984 and attended Hawthorn College in Antrim, NH, receiving his Helicopter License.
While in Maine, Scott managed The Country Store in Vassalboro. After returning to Dartmouth, he worked at Shaws Supermarket and Cumberland Farms.
Scott played hockey in his youth and while in high school. He enjoyed winter sports, snowmobiling and hunting in Maine.
Surviving in addition to his mother is a son, Cameron Gifford of Vassalboro, Maine; his siblings, Ginger Gifford , Cheryl Cieplik and her husband Stanley and Brad Gifford and his wife Robin all of Dartmouth; his former wife, Christine M. Gifford of Vassalboro, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew, Jonathan Gifford.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1-2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
