Tomas Faria, 86, of Dartmouth passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 in St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Auxiliadora “Dora” (Soares) Faria with whom he would have shared 60 years of marriage on May 12th.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores a son of the late Alexander and Marie (Daluz) Faria he spent most of his life in New Bedford and Dartmouth. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish.
Tomas worked as a union laborer for the local #385 for Cardi Construction for 35 years. He was an avid gardener and a Benfica Soccer fan. Part of a family joke, was the fact Tomas hated the Boston Bruins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Thomas Faria and his wife Carmen and Joe Faria and his wife Paula of Acushnet and Dorothy Sousa and her husband Jeremy of Dartmouth; six grandchildren, Trevor, Dale, Lauren, Leah, Sophia, and Sydney; siblings, Maria Medeiros of Sao Miguel, Berta Arruda of New Bedford, Eduardo Faria of FL, Jose Faria of Dartmouth, John Faria of Dartmouth, and Helena Andrade of FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Honorato Faria.
His funeral will be Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 9 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth.
