I have fond memories of babysitting for Ward and Evy when Mike, Debbie, and Becky were kids. Also spent many Sunday afternoons with them at The Mercer County airport where Ward gave me flying lessons, and singing with Evy and our little group at the Enon. Baptist Church. Those were fun days.

Dear Dorothy Family—

I had the pleasure of being able to work with Evy through RSVP. She was one of our stellar volunteers—reliable, loving, generous, thoughtful and joyous in all she did. When we needed to provide our best volunteers for a task, Evy was always our first call. Not only were we sure of her reliability and skill, we knew Evy would represent RSVP’s finest. RSVP was well-respected in the community, largely because of how Evy represented us.

Thank you for sharing her time here on earth with us. She made our community a better place.

Evie always expressed much caring and joy in her activities as an RSVP volunteer. As one of the RSVP staff members, I had wonderful opportunities to work with Evie on different occasions. Her love for her dear family and friends continues forever as your love for her continues forever.

I am so sorry to hear about Evelyn’s passing. She and Ward purchased my parent’s, Bill & Joan Quick, Trojan boat years ago. They were also docked in the slip next to my parents for years. I had my boat docked across from my parents so I saw Ward and Evie frequently. I vividly remember them taking off on Friday afternoons for the weekend. They would pack up the boat with provisions and then Ward would take Evie and the dingy and drop them at the Bettendorf ramp. Ward would meet up with Evie in the Trojan and they would boat to their designation of choice for the weekend. They were true boaters! We often said their boat was used more than any other in Lindsay Marina! They were a lovely couple, always upbeat, even though they were die hard Cub fans!!!! They were truly a treasure to know, I will never forget them. May they both Rest In Peace.
