At the age of 98, Lee Hall passed from this earth on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at her home in Oklahoma City. Magdalena “Lee” was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 7th, 1923 to Magdalena and Frank Muth. She was the youngest daughter of their six children.
In 1945, Lee married Robert “Bob” Ross Grau and together, they had four gorgeous daughters: Elaine, Carol, Diane and Terry. Lee was a stay-at-home mother and raised her girls to love The Lord. When “Bob” passed away in 1980, Lee moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her oldest daughter, Elaine. In the spring of 1983, she married Ralph “Pops” Hall and they remained in Oklahoma City until Ralph’s unexpected passing the following year.
Lee attended church at Grace Assembly of God and was famous for her ability to add interesting comments to just about any Sunday School lesson. Those in her class still share stories of the colorful conversations she was known for. She was an avid tither and encouraged her children to do the same.
Those who knew Lee remember her as a strong-willed and independent woman. She loved taking trips to visit her daughters in Ohio, Florida and New York and insisted on packing enough outfits for 3 full weeks with every visit. She eventually stopped taking flights, but always looked forward to her daughters’ visits. Lee would walk to the grocery store several times a week to get groceries and insisted on mowing her own lawn until she was nearly 90 years old. She never left the house without fixing her hair and putting on makeup. No outfit was complete without coordinating earrings, and she had a treasure trove to choose from.
Lee was a wonderful Grandma to no less than 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and was awaiting her first great-great-grandson expected later this summer. Time spent with Grandma was always fun for her grandchildren who rode down carpeted staircases on sheets of cardboard with her. Mini-bikes and Go-carts didn’t frighten her either, and she ripped permanent trails through the back yard with the neighborhood kids in hot pursuit behind her. At 93, she mustered up the courage to ride through the neighborhood in the sidecar of a fire-red scooter, waving at onlookers as she whizzed by. She lived her 98 years to the fullest and she will be sorely missed.
At Lee’s request, there will be no service preceding her burial as most of her friends and relatives are already awaiting her arrival in heaven.
