

He served with the US Army 2nd Division, 37th Field Artillery Battalion, Battery B, during WWII as a Machine Gunner, Cannoneer, and Forward Observer and fought in 5 campaigns including Normandy on "D" Day and the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes. He was a true American Hero. Robert enjoyed listening to old country music and dancing every Friday night with his wife, Dorothy. He even was an expert harmonica player. In his early years, he and his wife would even travel to Las Vegas. Every vacation he went on, he had to bring home a rock to add to his rock collection from all over the country. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and would always take them to the drive-in movie theater. In 1972 Robert retired from Tinker Air Force Base as an Egress Aircraft Mechanic. After he retired, he became an avid golfer and OU football fan.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Driver; son, Randy Driver; brother, Edgar Driver, and sister, Nellie Artman. Survivors include his children, Rob Driver and wife Diane, Ronny Driver and wife Leann; grandchildren, Cherish Driver, Shannon Morris and husband Thomas, Thomas M. Driver and wife Sara Motejl, and Amy Driver; great-grandchildren, Sierra Morris and Mesa Morris; and many other family members who will miss him dearly.
