Connie Strong, age 80, of Denison, Texas passed away on Saturday September 8, 2018. Connie was born October 1, 1937 in Denison, TX to Gladys Ethel Hendrix and Jessie Burt Grooms. On September 7th, 1982 Connie married Charles Strong in Durant Oklahoma. Connie led a successful career as a bartender she spent 19 years at The Moose Lodge here in Denison and tended at several other locations. On any given day you could bet Connie would be telling jokes and making friends.
Connie is survived by; sisters Joyce Gale House of Carpenters Bluff, Texas; Linda Maudine Cox and husband James of Denison, Texas; grandsons: Samuel Dean Myers of Denison, Texas; Bobby Taylor and wife Tanya of Denison, Texas; great grandchildren Mason Taylor, Tristyn Large, Todd Branum, Casey Myers and Colton Myers. Connie also leaves behind three great-great grandchildren and one on the way, as well as 3 nieces and 2 nephews and countless friends that she considered family.
Connie was preceded in death by her father Jessie Burt Grooms and mother Gladys Ethel Hendrix; her husband Charlie Strong, brother Samuel Irvin Grooms; brother Jessie Lewis Grooms and Sister Carolyn Kay Garland and her daughter Cynthia Ann Jones.
A visitation for Connie will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W Woodard St, Denison, Texas 75020. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 14, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Chapel on The Hill, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman, Texas 75090. Her burial to follow.
