Jeffrey Evan Fields was born on November 25, 1974, in Poughkeepsie, New York to Harold and Cyndy Fields. They always wrote his name as “Jef” because his initials were JEF. He was very close to his older brother Rob, with people often confusing them for being twins. The family traveled extensively through Canada and the United States as the boys were growing up.
The family moved from New York to Denver in 1978 where Jef attended neighborhood schools. He loved to play soccer and became a star goalie for several teams. He had some time in the media spotlight when he appeared in Yoplait yogurt commercials and skiing promotions for the Boy Scouts.
Jef loved to draw and make things with his hands as his interest in construction grew. He studied construction at the Career Education Center where he earned his high school diploma. As a young man he volunteered his time to build ramps for the handicapped at Wilderness on Wheels, a wheelchair accessible hiking trail near Grant Pass in the Colorado mountains. Jef made carpentry his profession and specialized in remodeling.
Jef moved to Naples, Florida and married Jennifer Elaine Cooper. During the 15 years they were together, he helped raise her two children like his own, Jenna and Timothy. Then Jef and Jennifer were blessed with two children together: a son Jakob Evan, 6, and a daughter Jamey Elaine, 5 years old. Please notice that the initials “JEF” were common in his family!
Jef had many friends and was part of a very large extended family. Among them were his “Canadian” sisters, Sherry, Charlayne, and Cindee, who would exchange time living in Denver and the Vancouver area. They are the daughters of his parents close friends Bob and Judy Doll.
Jef was known for his witty comeback and humor. His friends often find themselves quoting his sayings that helped make sense out of a crazy world.
Jeffrey made his transition happen on February 16, 2011. We all pray that his soul finds the rest he deserves.
A fund has been set up for the benefit of his children. Checks should be made to “Jakob or Jamey Fields” and sent to:
