Omie Jean Ford was born in Paris, Texas on January 17, 1941 as the daughter of Luke Hodge Jr. and R. V. Shelton. Her upbringing kept her in the company of adults and as such she matured very quickly. On July 14, 1956 she married James Ford. Their marriage that lasted 61 years.
While living in New Mexico, Omie went to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was also extremely active in the Church of God in Christ. Mom was a lifelong learner and a woman who loved to travel. While mastering the affairs of the household and raising three boys, she found time through the years to obtain an Associate’s Degree, earn a Real Estate license and work in Retail. In St. Louis she was active in the Red Hats society. Upon retiring and returning to Colorado she joined a lady’s billiard league, played cards, attended Pilates and Zumba classes and enrolled in an art class.
