She was born July 23, 1937 in Giza, Egypt to Milad and Aziza Khela. Clair was a loving wife to her late husbands Kamal Chidiak and Gadallah Gadallah. She was the much loved mother to Fahim Gadallah (Barb), Nagwa Daoust, Adel Gadallah (Michelle) and cherished grandmother to Sean, Kyle, Elyse, Erik, Shaelyn and Kiera.
She is also survived by her sister Suzan, brother Mikhael, stepchildren Joe and Myriam. She was predeceased by her Grandson Brandon, her sisters Samira and Isis and her brother Mansour.
Also lovingly known as Tata (Arabic for grandmother), Clair was a passionate wife, mother, grandmother and cook. In 1966 she with her husband Gadallah bravely left their families, friends and businesses to immigrate to Edmonton, Alberta. In starting a new life Tata took any work available and used her education in home economics and sewed sheets for the TB Society, a furniture re-upholstery company and GWG before settling at AGT where she remained until she retired. After retirement Tata proudly volunteered many hours at the General Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
Mom and Dad had to re-start with very humbling jobs but created a great life for the family. We the children felt we missed nothing in life and couldn’t be more grateful for the family and values they provided.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Rosedale where Clair was so respectfully taken care of and where she enjoyed the last two and half years.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that friends and family make donations to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation 10240 Kingsway Ave., Edmonton, AB T5H 3V9, in support of priority needs of the hospital.
