Marcelo Plesant, 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 20, 2013. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was born in Chihuahua City and came to the United States when he was 15. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served the country he loved for six years. During his time of service while stationed at McChord AFB in Tacoma, WA, he met the love of his life Joan Murphy. Marcelo and Joan recently celebrated 50 years of marriage with their 5 children, their spouses and their 16 grandchildren. Marcelo was the CEO of Spectrum Imaging Systems, formerly ABDick Products of El Paso, where he began work as a floor salesman in 1965. He bought the company from the Dodds & Norton families in 1986. He recognized the success of his business was directly attributable to the gracious blessings of God and the incredible efforts of many great people. Marcelo was a proud member of the El Paso business community and served on several industry and manufacturer boards. He was the El Paso Small Business Person of the Year in 1992. As much as he loved his business and his employees, his top priorities were his love of God and his large family. Marcelo is survived by his loving wife Joan, his children Jackie (Kyle), Maurice (Diana), Mitch (Julie), Suzanne (Tony) and Chris (Deebee), his 16 grandchildren, his brother Mauricio Plesant of Chihuahua and his very close friend Bill Appleton. Marcelo’s fabulous sense of humor and ability to bring laughter to every situation, his kindness and generosity and his genuine affection for those around him will be incredibly missed by all. The family is eternally grateful to the wonderful, caring nursing staff at Providence CCU and to the amazing team of doctors who cared for him. We invite you to a celebration of Marcelo’s life at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23rd at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird Drive, where he was a member. There will be a reception immediately following the service. Private burial services will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harvest Hands Ministries, which houses and schools orphans in Juarez, at P.O. Box 1380, Anthony, NM 88021. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, Texas 79912. www.MartinFuneralHomeWest.com
