On Friday, May 20th, 2022, Barbara Ann "Barbie" (Grenier) Senay, lost her courageous battle with cancer, and was called home to God, with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born in Fall River, MA. The youngest of two daughters, born to the late Evelyn (King) Grenier, and the late Emery Grenier, on November 10th, 1945. As a child. Barbara aspired to become a nun, and would parade around the neighborhood wearing her hand made habit. As she grew into adulthood, she realized that her true desire was to become a wife, and mother. Soon after graduating from Dominican Academy, in 1963, while working as a sales assistant at Edgars department store, Barbara met a military man who would eventually become her husband. Barbara soon fulfilled her dream, and had 2 daughters. Her children were her world, and she devoted her life to them. When describing Barbara, it has been said that she was selfless to a fault. Although she was plagued by illness for most of her life, she often neglected her own needs and well being, for the wellbeing of her children. Barbara was her daughters' biggest cheerleader, and they grew up knowing that they were loved, and special, and that there was nothing that there was nothing that they could not accomplish in life. From the moment she first laid eyes on her granddaughter Alexandra, there was a special bond that could never be broken. With the exception of her family, Barbara was passionate about anything to do with the Bruins. Her other hobbies included watching Nascar racing, The Patriots, New England in the Fall, chocolate, strong coffee by the pot, reading romance novels, Taramisu, and on rare occasion, a good Scotch. Her favorite color was yellow, and she was an avid animal lover. Barbara was devoted to her Roman Catholic faith, and was a loyal member to Holy Name Parish, where her children attended elementary school. Prior to her illness, Barbara was often seen sitting in the 3rd pew for Sunday mass.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Lori Senay-Marceau (husband Lucien) from Fall River, Ma, and Lisa (Senay) Miller. She is also the grandmother to Alexandra Marceau, of Philadelphia, Pa. She is also survived by her sister/best friend Patricia Hamel (husband Maurice) 2 nephews, her godson Garey, and Steven Hamel, and one niece, Brenda Hamel.
