Scott (Ron) Akerson-Pokorney, 64, went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2020. He was born on September 10, 1955 to devoted parents Lois Ann Pokorney and Ronald William Pokorney in Hastings, Nebraska. Ron graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate and a minor in Finance. He has owned several successful mortgage and real estate companies in Colorado and Florida with his beloved wife Lee.

In 1993 Ron was saved by Dr. Tony Evans and became a born-again Christian. He had a passion for the Lord, evangelism and children’s ministries. Ron decided to pursue in depth biblical studies and enrolled in Dallas Theological Seminary while working and supporting his family full time. He graduated in 2009 with a Masters of Arts in Biblical Studies. During his time there, Ron started a web-based church, New Covenant Christian Church with online daily devotionals and podcasts. Its aim is to bring a message of hope to edify believers and turn the hearts of those coming to faith. These can still be found at www.dailyprayer1.blogspot.com as well as on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/user/newcovenantchurch1. He also published the book “House of Jacob; United, Divided & In Exhile” to share a deeper understanding of the Bible.

In Ron’s early adulthood he was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing in the Rocky Mountains. He loved chess and was on his high school chess and bowling teams. He also had a passion for sports and was a devoted Miami Heat and Florida Marlins fan. Throughout the years he attended many games with his wife and daughters. He was a great speaker and compassionate listener, eager to bring peace to any situation, quick to laugh. Ron has a fondness of cats, especially “Gray Cat” and Mia, aka “Mrs. Furryhead”.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife Sun (Lee) of 38 years, his children Christine Angela Lee Pokorney-Sickterman, Jennifer Ann Pokorney, Amy Lynn Pokorney, sons-in-law Neil Leon Sickterman, David Michael Proebsting, his granddaughter Quincy Leland Sickterman, numerous cousins in Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa and brother and sister-in-law Frank and Kyu Kalivoda. He is preceded in death by his sister, Trudy Ann Pokorney. He has touched the lives of many over the course of his career and life. The family will have a private memorial service to celebrate his life. Donations to the following organizations are preferred in lieu of flowers: Andrew Wommack Ministries or Central Assembly of God, Ron and Lee’s present church. https://store.awmi.net/p-2-ministry-donation.aspx?SOURCE=30W00G004
