Marguerite "Margie" C. (Sorg) Meyers, 88, of Fort Wayne, went on her journey home to the Lord, Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Virginia Sorg. She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Parish where she attended school to the 9th grade. She stayed home and helped on the family farm plowing and milking cows. She married Robert "Bob" Meyers in 1949. She loved baking, playing cards, making flower arrangements, and special dinners with her siblings. She was an avid football fan for Heritage High School and the Indianapolis Colts (Go Peyton!). She was also involved in the Meyers Family Farm until her later years. She was a remarkable, strong, and loving woman who put her faith in the Lord. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched.
Margie is survived by children, Stan (Judi), Dennis (Kathy), Kenneth (Lisa), Tom (Connie), Vanessa Spade (Mike Lyons), Matt (Angie), Janell (Tom) Kline, Renae (Joe) Burton, Patty (Earl II) McPherson, Michelle (Kevin) Wittwer, and Ernie (Lauri) Meyers; 38 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeanette Klingenberger, Victoria Vachon, Helene Spieth, Russell "Butch" (Sharon) and Ron (Carol) Sorg; and brother-in-law, Ed Adams. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert; son, Teddy Meyers; grandchildren, Ben, Danielle, and Madeline; and sisters, Irene Shelburne and Bernadette Adams.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 18, 2018, at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church (11337 US-27, Fort Wayne, IN 46816) at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Cemetery. Visitation will also be Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home (6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46819) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary Service will be held at the funeral home Sunday at 7:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hessen Cassel Food Bank, Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home (5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814), or for Masses in honor of Margie at church.
