Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson.
Burial: will follow in Burleson Memorial Park.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boulevard Baptist Church Youth Camp Fund.
Nell was born April 18, 1934, in Coryell County to Eula Edna Stallings Bertrand and Austin Craig Bertrand. She married Wayne on Aug. 6, 1950. Nell was a longtime member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson. She was an avid gardener and florist in Arlington and Burleson. She was an active genealogist due to her family's strong ties to Texas and United States history. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Nell was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Wayne Bates.
Survivors: Daughters, Nelda Darden and husband, Dennis, Shirley Riley and husband, Steve, and Dolores Sherrard and husband, Jack; granddaughters, Wendy Nicholson, Holly Randall, Jolene Cox, Tiffany Truitt and Amber Adrion; 14 great-grandchildren.
