James (Jimmy) Christiansen, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Fredericksburg, VA on July 20, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born May 2, 1958 in Providence, Rhode Island. Jimmy honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy for 21 years as a Gas Turbine Inspector, followed by 18 years in the U.S. Civil Service.
Jimmy’s family was the most important part of his life. He spent 35 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Lorraine (Lorri) Christiansen. He is father to beloved daughters Sarah Christiansen Snow (Aaron) and Kelly Christiansen and grandfather or “Bampie” to two-year old Sam. Jimmy is also survived by his parents Faye Stearns Christiansen and Trygve Christiansen; sister Julie Christiansen Perry (Gene); brother John Christiansen (Jennifer); and several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy made wonderful memories over the years with his family in his “happy places” of Lake Gaston, North Carolina and Sebago Lake, Maine, where he was an avid boater. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather.
Jimmy’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Mary Washington Hospice team for their wonderful care and support. We would especially like to thank Jimmy’s hospice nurse, Bobbi, for her compassionate care and support throughout his last days.
We will celebrate Jimmy’s life on July 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401. For family and friends who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed via the Mullins & Thompson Fredericksburg website. A reception will follow at the Celebrate Virginia Riverside Lodge, 10 Montera Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22406. Jimmy will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
