James "Jimmy" E. Hodshire, age 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on September 16, 2022. Jimmy was born on November 27, 1933 to Ernest and Blanche (Bird) Hodshire in Clay County, Missouri. He and his younger brother Paul had a fun and feisty childhood growing up in North Kansas City. Jimmy graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1951. After high school, he joined the United States Navy as a Seaman, stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Base. Jimmy moved back to Kansas City and began his long career at TWA as a mechanical inspector. He spent more than 40 years with TWA and was a dedicated member of the International Association of Machinists Lodge #142. In 1981, Jimmy married Donna Earp, the couple were together for 35 years. Jimmy was an avid Kansas City sports fan, but he loved the Royals most of all. As a proud season ticket holder he enjoyed taking his family to the games, even the 1985 World Series. Jimmy was also an active member of the VFW Post 5606. He is remembered as a kind and loving individual with a sly smile that could light up a room and make you feel safe. He will be deeply missed more than words can express. He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Blanche (Bird) Hodshire, sisters Sharon and Jaqueline, and wife Donna (Earp) Hodshire. Jimmy is survived by his brother Paul Hodshire; daughter Shirley and her husband Edward Kuennen; grandchildren, Alex, Eddie, Junior, Hagan; family members Jeannie, Bash, Jessica and Dameon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Visitation for Jimmy will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM. An Inurnment with Military Honors will follow, all at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119. Donations in Jimmy's honor may be made to a charity of your choice supporting the fight against lung cancer. The family would like to thank White Chapel Funeral Home for their care of Jimmy and compassion to his family.
