Being the first born I have memories of my mom as a young person. So pretty in her flowing skirts and very high 👠. Through all of life's ups and downs one thing never changed...my mother's love for me and all her children. Like a baby bird I would jump from the nest ready to FLY. A few times I did not do so well. Mom would put me back in the nest..give me what I needed . mom's love. Is never-ending. Love mom.

As I was arriving home in New York, Grandma Daisy was taking her last breath in Phoenix. I wish I could have seen her one more time, but I’m grateful my son Willem, husband Chris and I got to visit her earlier this year.

She was diminutive—it was a rite of passage when each of us grandkids grew taller than her. And she celebrated our 14th birthdays with a trip to the mall to pick out anything we wanted (I chose a business-casual dress with matching jewelry from Lerner New York, and she didn’t question my choices).

She worked at a hospital and raised 8 children in the desert without air conditioning, provided a soft landing for so many family members throughout her life, loved margaritas, Christmas and Chantilly perfume, and amazingly lived to 90! I know I’ll never meet another person like her. Love you forever, Grandma.

Back in 1969 to 1970 Momma got a 1964 Ford Falcon 2door from one of her brothers I think Ronnie. She told me it was our car even though I couldn’t even drive yet. It meant so much to me, Momma and I would go everywhere in that car. The battery was shot so we would have to push it to get the motor running , the car was really light.. Once or twice we rescued my dad when his big ole Cadillac was stalled. We picked up many people in that car. What I remember about it is that Momma would always complete her mission. I know The Lord is telling her right now “Well done my good and faithful servant, you may enter into my rest”.

I will always cherish my childhood memories of Easter, thanksgiving and Christmas at great grandma daisy’s. All of the cousins would play for hours in grandma’s. Her back yard an adventure always awaited us. Grandma was always loving, kind, and gentle towards me. I will miss her stories, her love of music boxes and coffee . She was the cornerstone of our tribe. I will always carry her and her teachings with me. Love you the greatest of the great grandmas.

My mom was never afraid of hard work, and would help anyone in need. She was a very genuine and caring person. She loved music, dancing and exploring new places.

I was so fortunate to never doubt that my mom loved me, she gave me unconditional love everyday of my life and the security of a home was her priority. Because she believed in me I had the courage to figure out my life and become a successful professional. But still my mom was very easy going and was able to laugh at life. I always looked forward to her perception of a problem and how she looked on the bright side of things.

Thank you Mom for always having my back and being my loving, strong rock. I will always miss you ❤️❤️❤️
