With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Laura Elena Cortez on April 25, 2026, at the age of 54.
Laura was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and faithful friend. She lived in Montclair, where she created a life centered on family, faith, and love. A devoted Catholic, Laura carried herself with compassion, warmth, and grace, touching the lives of everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
Laura is survived by her beloved husband, Rick Cortez; her son, Richard Joseph Cortez; her daughter, Sophia Maria Cortez; her mother, Maria Eustolia Serna; her father, Jesus Serna Lopez; her three sisters and three brothers; and her 19 cherished nieces and nephews.
Laura found happiness in crocheting, shopping, and especially spending time with her loved ones. She had a caring spirit and a beautiful heart that brought comfort, laughter, and joy to family gatherings and everyday moments alike. Her love for her family was unwavering, and the memories she created will be treasured forever.
