Atiae Palata was born April 22, 1950 in Samoa. He moved to Boston, Ma to attend school. While in Boston he worked in several Polynesian shows and sold real estate. In 1988 while on a business trip to Orlando, Fl he met his wife Lisa. They married in 1989 in Boston and moved back to Orlando that same year. They have three children, Kurtis William, 22, Atiae Justin (A.J.), 17 and Kennedy Marie, 12. He was employed at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando.
His most important role was that of husband and father. Kurtis is his first born son and when he was born he and his wife decided they would work opposite shifts so a parent would always be with the children. Kurtis has the strength and compassion of his father and understands his role of responsibility to the family. A.J. is Atiae’s namesake and holds the name proud. A.J. has the hard working traits of his father and also understands his role of responsibility to the family. Two sons who excel in athletics, hard working and place their family first made Atiae so proud. When Kennedy came along he wasn’t quite sure what to do with a girl. He figured out very quickly that she would be the one to guide him. They shared a love for tennis and he will continue to be her coach from heaven. He loved his children with a passion that only increased with time. He taught them to be strong, work hard, do the right thing and be a leader just as he did. Everyone who knew him will tell you he touched them with his quiet demeanor and included them in his family circle.
Atiae passed away peacefully in his home surround by his family May 7, 2011.
