Genavie Ruehling, 85, of Grandview, MO passed away on February 2, 2023 at Carnegie Village in Belton MO. Genavie was born on June 13, 1937 in Rich Hill, MO to Merle and Lorene Kline. She married Melvin Ruehling on June 10, 1956 and they had a son and daughter.
Genavie was a stay at home Mom until her kids were in junior high school and then cooked for the Grandview school district for over 20 years. She enjoyed watching her grandkids over the years.
Genavie loved to clean house and nothing was ever out of place or dusty! She loved to decorate her house and especially at Christmas. She had a huge collection of snowmen and Precious Moments. Her real passion was tending to her yard and beautiful flower gardens. She won yard of the month several times and push mowed her yard which was an acre, until she was almost 80 years old. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her classmates from high school and meeting them for lunch.
She was a very devoted Christian who loved the Lord. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for over 60 years. She always arrived very early to church to sit in the back pew and to socialize, make the coffee or be a greeter.
Preceding Genavie in death were her parents, her husband Melvin of 55 years and sister Kathy Seider.
Survived by son, Tim Ruehling (Renee), daughter, Kim Treccariche (Tommy). 5 grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Clint Miller (Tonya), Matthew Ruehling (Electra), Corey Ruehling and Spencer Ruehling. 3 great grandsons, Trevor, Colton and Mason. Sister, Wanda Fleischer. Aunt, Elsie Klinksick. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank Carnegie Village for the loving and wonderful care they gave Genavie. Special thanks to Dee and her whole staff.
